Selfless * Service * Duty

Motivated to serve after the tragic events of 9/11,
Sam decided to join the U.S. Army.
He was already set with a career in the
Dept. of Corrections, a husband and a father.
But still he felt the need to serve our great nation.

Honor * Loyalty * Personal Courage * Respect * Integrity

Sam hit the ground in Iraq early September 2004, like most soldiers he
quickly saw the true face of war. On July 4, 2005 Sam was severely
injured by a roadside bomb (IED). Near death, Sam
was saved by his medic and his heroic team.

In December 2008, Sam had his left hand amputated; due to injuries sustained in combat.

Now the real fight was about to begin. The fight to overcome adversity
and the fight to re-identify himself as a Husband, Father and Athlete.
